A few days ago, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim started receiving the 1.22 patch. This one brought a lot of fixes. But, it also reportedly brought some performance issues.
According to multiple reports, after 1.22 patch, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is suffering from crashing, freezing in main menu and is not loading for many players.

Players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim report various game performance issues after its most recent update. For some, the game gets stuck in the main menu and can’t load. Other players suffer from freezing on the loading screen too, and even ingame. Meanwhile, some players also suffer from game crashes.
Bethesda is already aware, potential workaround
Bethesda recently confirmed that they are already aware of the issues that the latest 1.22 patch brought to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The company is working on a fix, but there is still no ETA for it.
Fix 1 - Some players have had luck uninstalling and reinstalling the game altogether. This may offer a short term solution while we implement a fix.
Fix 2- Some players have reported starting the game in Offline mode may help temporarily.
