Kingdom Hearts not working on Nintendo Switch or crashing error on screen

Kingdom Hearts is one of the most famous action RPG game series. Developed and published by Square Enix, the games are a crossover between various Disney properties and are set in a fictional universe.

Some time ago, the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account announced that all games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch as cloud versions on February 10.

The developers will be bringing four games that can be purchased individually or in a bundle called Integrum Masterpiece and are priced at $89.99.

The bundle includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC).

But according to recent reports from Nintendo Switch players who bought Kingdom Hearts, it looks like many are unable to play the game since it is crashing on the title screen.

Players are seemingly frustrated because they paid a premium and are unable to play the game right after it was launched. You can see in the image below what the error message looks like for some of those affected by the issue.

Official Report

As it turns out, Kingdom Hearts developers have started rolling out the Day 1 patch which might potentially address the issue.

But we are unsure since they haven’t said anything about the Kingdom Hearts crashing issue on the Nintendo Switch.

Workaround

A reddit user share workaround :

On my friend's Switch, they were getting frustrated over the constant crashing, so after some troubleshooting, I quickly realized that the problem wasn't that their Switch was bricked. It was the fact that for some reason, the launcher only loads properly if you play in Handheld mode. Thus, to get everything to work and be able to use ethernet, they had to do the following:

Open the app in Handheld mode and wait for the launcher to fully load

Turn on airplane mode

Make sure the ethernet cable/adapter is plugged in to your dock

Place the Switch in the dock and turn off airplane mode

Play the game you spent $40 on that will go away in a few years once the Cloud service ends

I'm sure this will get fixed, but man, does it suck. Honestly I wish I could tell them to get a PS5 or a gaming PC so that they could actually own the games, but I'm not sure that would be a wise decision atm given it's more expensive now to buy a console or PC just to play one game.

If this workaround works for you let us know in the comments

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space when the developers fix the problem so stay tuned for more information.
