Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter game that features a single player campaign and has multiple modes. On the other hand, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 too is a free-to-play battle royale game.

Both games are set up in a similar universe and have recently received patches that claim to fix bugs, balance changes and come up with new content.

Usually, with new patches comes new bugs, which is pretty common for first-person shooters like COD. For instance, we recently highlighted that some players faced difficulty in logging into the game.

COD: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 crashing

There have been widespread reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 players experiencing crashes, issues with the game not starting or loading, and other problems after the latest update.

So I’ve just done the new update which was around 300mb and now I can’t even load the game without it crashing… never had an issue with the game until now.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

These issues appear to affect players on both PC and console versions of the game. Affected ones have taken to forums and social media platforms to express their concerns and seek a solution.

Official word & potential workarounds

Fortunately, the developers have taken note of the issue and have not only acknowledged the matter but also shared a workaround that players can try.

This involves restarting the client for an update and ensuring that all necessary updates are installed. However, some have reported that this fix has not worked for them.

On the brighter side, there are a few other potential workarounds that some players have found to be effective.

One solution is to close Battle.net and delete certain directories of the games.

C:\ProgramData\Battle.net_components\randgridauks – close battlenet, delete this directory and it will force install it again.

Several have also had success with moving the location of the games’ files to another folder.

It is worth noting that these workarounds may not work for everyone, and the developers are likely working on a more comprehensive fix for the issues.

In the meantime, players experiencing problems with the game may want to try these potential solutions and see if they help.

It is always frustrating when a game update causes problems, but it is important to remember that these issues are often unforeseen and can be difficult to anticipate.

We hope the developers are working as quickly as possible to resolve the issues with COD: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 and get the game running smoothly again for all players.

Until then, watch this space as we will update it with further developments as soon as we come across any.
